United Kingdom 2018 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Corris Grey
active roll bar hydraulic pipe failure-covered by warranty?

2018 MY 5.0 SC.

While on a midweek break to celebrate my birthday was driving on an A road and got a red warning 'Suspension failure - stop engine as soon as possible" or something like that.

I was not in a safe position to stop and drove a couple of miles imn to Lyme Regis. Nothing untoward was apparent until parked up and found back end of vehicle spotted with oil. Had a look underneath and could see oil dripping from hydraulic pipe that feeds rear active roll bar.

I have got Land Rover extended warranty as purchased a couple of months ago from MD.

Used assistance call button to request breakdown. AA attended within 45mins and confirmed my diagnosis and arranged for recovery to Salisbury MD. 1.5 hours later we were on the back of a flatbed. First time I have needed outside assistance in nearly 50 years of motoring.

As soon as we set off in the recovery truck got a message from Incontrol to say the car was being stolen!

Quite impressed with the Land Rover assistance but I am guessing the hard part begins now.

My question is has anybody had this happen to them in a warranty period for a 7yr old vehicle and had Land Rover cover the cost?

I am assuming the pump will be damaged as there was no fluid in the reservoir by the time I stopped.

Also if one pipe has pinholed the other pipe will not be far off failure - I doubt they will replaced that free of charge. L405 2018 5.0 S/C

I had the front ARC pipes replaced soon after purchasing my car.

I expected the work to be covered by the JLR dealer insurance, but was told "no, corrosion is not covered under the warranty" !! Censored

I took it to a JLR dealer closer to home to have the work done and was relieved of £2,500 for the replacement.

The pipe will have rusted through and I'm pretty sure rust isn't covered under the warranty...

Maybe they will pay though... I'll keep everything crossed for you Thumbs Up Pete
