4.4 TDV8 Auxiliary Drive Belt

I would like to change the auxiliary drive belt at the next service, but I am unable to find the part number!

None of the links on the Wiki seem to bear fruit, and I am not keen on paying for a months subscription to JLRs online catalogue!

Any pointers?

Thanks,

Thanks!

Amazing what the price difference is between different vendors...

Try Autodoc. Usually lots of choice of brands to pick from.

There is a website but the app works well. Buy most of my parts off them. Usually good service and decent prices. I’ve just got a gearbox service kit off them for the ZF 8Sp for £190 incl the oils. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Having just changed the auxiliary drivebelt, I can say that it was nowhere near as difficult as I expected!

Hey Chris,

Did you have to remove many things to get to the belt, also assuming you did it from the top of car?

Looking to do the same but not sure if its worth the hassle if it takes a while, rather pay to get it done if not

Thanks
S

I did my tensioner at the weekend, wished I’d got a belt to chuck on at the same time.

It’s not that bad, you only really have to remove the big turbo hose which goes to the throttle body. Then you can get the tensioner backed off and the belt out. I used a long bar and socket to back the tensioner off. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Ahh excellent. I need to check where the noise is on mine, going to do the water test on belt tomorrow or check the tensioner/pulley. Hopefully find out which one it is and it be the tensioner nice n easy lol. Did you remove the fan assembly too or just the top plastics behind grill? How long did it take u too please

Nope just the turbo hose. On the 405 that is just about enough space. Just. It’s fiddly to get the tensioner off but it is doable, don’t drop the bolts….. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Probably took me less than an hour. As mentioned, it's worth removing a few covers and air pipes just to improve access. You still can't see everything (e.g. alternator pulley), but it seems to get back into place OK.

I had a long socket handle on the tensioning pulley so I could give myself plenty of slack to work with.

Trickiest thing was remembering the routing of the belt!

Great thanks for replying. Was yours preventative maintenance or did you have a chirp/squeal sound?

Just preventative maintenance. I wasn't sure if it had ever been done, and the car is now 11 years old at 140,000 miles so I decided I'd do it. I put the old one in the boot though as it would be an easy repair if the new one broke.

No squeaks or noises.
