Turkey 2009 Range Rover HSE TDV8 Barolo Black
Motive Components Parts

Hello Everyone ,

I sold my 3.6 TDV8 because of the Engine System Fault issue that no one in my country including official service could not solve .

After couple of months I decided to purchase 4.4 TDV8 L322 , I bought a car 190K Miles on the clock .

The previous owner had a engile failure 15K Miles ago and rebuild the engine for 20 K Pound (Broken crank). The service sent me the parts list . They actually totally rebuild the whole engine . When I check the part numbers I saw that crank is not Land Rover, the part they purchased it from Motive Components .

Question on my side is can I trust this engine , my Land Garage told me that they rebuild it very good and engine runs so smooth .

Do you have any experience with the Motive ?

Thank you 4.4 tdv8 Vogue 2012- 190k Miles

Genuine cranks have never been availabe, but you could buy a short block up until 2022. The 4.4 engine was built by Ford in Mexico and they shut down the assembly line in 2021 when LR no longer needed the engine as they had moved to the Ingenium range. I rebult my 4.4, but managed to get a genuine secondhand crank as the alternatives were either made in China or Turkey and I didn't trust them.

LR did get Ford to make a batch of short blocks recently as they had to buy back a lot of failed 4.4's, I've got one sitting here that I ordered back in December 23 (arrived November 24) for a rainy day project!

Thanks @4RRS , my garage in Istanbul they have great stock for 4.4 engine blocks probably they have purchased before factory closed . Like you said there is a lot of parts build in Turkey and China which is so risky for me to put in a Range Rover . But Motive parts as I see their factory is based in Milton Keynes UK .

Like you said time will tell Smile

It's incredibly unusual for a 4.4 to snap its crank. In fact I'd go as far as saying it's unheard of!

Sounds like yours is a very very unusual failure.
