Auto Electrics Advice on MX5 (Eunos)

My 20 year old Eunos has on several occasions drained the battery overnight (not consecutive ones). Completely flat no life at all. However will sit for weeks at a time without use and start up first time on other occasions.

The only thing we believe we can tie it to is that we used the lights before parking up for the night. Yes, lights definitely switched off!!

So this got me thinking that there might be a relay problem of some kind?

Any auto sparks care to advise?

Thanks .

Well its not the lights - battery dropped completely from Friday 5pm to Sunday 3pm no lights used prior to this on four consecutive days use as commuter vehicle (sun out top down of course!)

Charged back up to starting up power, checked & recorded voltage, now have left it unconnected to see if it dies on its own.... .

difficult to say. Have you checked to see if the alternator is charging properly ?

It could just be the battery is not being topped up enough with short runs ...........

Otherwise check with a multimeter to see what power is being drained from the battery when all off. If there's something drawing current, remove a fuse at a time to see what it is.

Here's some links you may find interesting (unless they're already your posts ..........)

This is interesting for all FFRR owners - we're not the only ones who get flat batteries on new cars !! Rolling with laughter
