Hi everyone

Got a new ( to me) RR last week. Colour : metallic British Racing Green.

Met up with a friend this afternoon and her young, exhuberant Lab was so over the moon to see me that in her unbridled joy she jumped all over the outside of the door, leaving some pretty nasty scratches.

My friend was, understandibly, mortified and she absolutely would pay to to have the damage professionally repaired. BUT….is there anything, aside of T CUT, that I could try to address it myself? For one because I live in Devon and the car will get scratched sooner or later anyway going down our narrow country lanes. For the other, it isn’t great handing a bill to a friend. Plus, I love her nutty Labrador girl.

Any ideas gratefully received. Thank you.

If its just in the clear coat it should polish out.

Best way to check is get some water and spray over the scratches, if they "disappear" then they should be Ok for buffing out.

If the marks have gone into the paint it might be a job for a professional but I suspect its probably on the surface of the clear.

You can try buffing with something like T-Cut but if you have access to a rotary polisher that should make quick work of it if you are careful. Obviously it shouldn't need a lot of effort to sort.

As scouse exile says, it should buff out, I live in deepest darkest Herefordshire with similar narrow and scratchy lanes, a couple of times year I break out the rotary and get the worst of the damage removed, as far as I am concerned it's a car, I will try and keep it looking presentable but I'm not precious about these things.

Will give it a whirl in the morning. I don’t have a rotary polisher but I think one of our lovely neighbours has and he might let me borrow it.

I tend to try Auto Glym silicone resin polish… then if that doesn’t work, T Cut…. Don’t forget to wax again after… Maybe I’m old school and there is a better more modern way 🤣 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Mine is another vote for Autoglym polish, one just needs to keep going with it. Things like T Cut are very abrasive and leave lots of fine scratches which are then a chore to polish out. I recall getting labrador claw marks off the tailgate of a 322 with Autoglym anyway. Good luck. Only Range Rovers since 1988
