Important questions to ask when buying a L322 4.4

Hello, I've now decided I'm going to buy a 4.4 l322.

I always ask about the service history, egr valves and rear arches.

What are the important questions to ask before buying?

I live in Northern Ireland and it looks likely that I'm going to have to go to the mainland to get a l322. So I would be buying blind.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

If you’ve not seen this it’s worth a watch, although you are in the north it does touch on the market and issues in bringing a vehicle to Ireland.

In terms of rust the biggest trouble areas are indeed the rear arches, but also the underside of the rear sills, where the arch meets the sill at the rear door. Most of the area of concern is hidden by a plastic trim so get in your hands and knees and have a good feel around that area. I had to do both sides on mine including a rear arch section.

Looking on the forum isn’t a bad start as there’s a For Sale section or maybe post a “wanted” request and you might get lucky.
