DPF

I’ve just had an email offering to remove my DPF, it takes a lot of trouble to explain how my engine will last longer and other advantages of having it removed however it doesn’t say why it’s there in the first place. I assume the clue is in the name and its job is to prevent harmful? Diesel particulates from being released from the tailpipe with all the associated and well documented health problems that causes for other people. Therefore it seems to me that this is selfish and socially irresponsible thing to do so I guess I won’t be doing it. Geoff

Did they also say that they had a sick relative in Nigeria who needed treatment which you could help with sending money to them on the promise that you would get a massive inheritance reward from them for the small price of sending some bitcoin ? Laughing

( with 3k posts, can't figure out if you're just throwing for a bite... Laughing )

DPF ... as much as it's a PITA for the issues it can potentially cause ( oil dilution etc ), leave it and ensure that your regens work properly, and you should be fine for many miles. there is a ton of threads on here about them. V8 or else ...

Geoff,

I'm on Range Rover World's mailing list as well..... Whistle

I notice the small print from their website states.....

IS DPF REMOVAL LEGAL?
Please note that we only offer DPF solutions for Off-Road Usage only. Although it is not illegal to remove a DPF filter form your vehicle, it is an offence under the Road vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Regulation 61a(3))1 to use a vehicle which has been modified in such a way that it no longer complies with the air pollutant emissions standards it was designed to meet. Removal of a DPF will almost invariably contravene these requirements.

That's OK then..... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Pete

I got the same email too, and came here to see what others were saying about it Laughing

I had to read it through twice before spotting the small print.... And was curious that they made no mention of what the "DPF Delete" would cost.

That'll be a "no" from me then. Current

I wasn’t going to name names, I didn’t actually notice the small print (there wasn't any in the email just "ignorance is bliss" when it came to legality) but I did take a quick look in their shop (where I did find the small print) and it seems to suggest 1200 quid. Geoff

Surely for most of us on here, just pottering around our 5,000 acre country estates to check on the livestock, the lack of a DPF isn’t such an issue? Whistle Rolling with laughter “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

plus VAT... so best part of £1,500 and other bits they always find....!!

Can't see how removing exhaust, making four cuts, removing innards and welding up again can be any more than 3 hours work and a fiver in welding bits and bobs... add an oil change and a remap and it's still rather expensive...

Someone is making a killing.... Pete

I think I must have asked them a question, certainly not a customer. Geoff

Also be mindful of the fact it’s an automatic MOT fail if seen by a keen eyed tester.

I don’t see the point - I’ve never ever had any issues with a DPF in a RR - I guess others have but I haven’t - could be down to driving style and journey length 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17
