Interior swap

I am struggling to find my ideal spec 4.4L322 with green and light interior however I am talking to someone about a green one with a dark interior.

My question is how difficult would it be to swap in a light interior? Looking in ebay parts seem relatively inexpensive. Seats and door cards I'm sure are straight forward its the lower dash im more concerned about.

Also would this devalue the car?

Thanks!

It's a lot of faff, a full 2 day job if you know what you are doing, and interiors sit in scrapyards for ages before being sold, they then usually jet wash all the crud off and send the damaged stuff to you with a statement on the sale that the bits are second hand and have marks....

IMHO much better to find the colour you like anyway, as an aside I have noted that dark interiors tend to wear better and are easier to repair small blemishes than the lighter ones so can you stand it...?? Pete

Thanks for that, useful to know its a full two day job! Point taken re quality/condition of parts!

undecided whether I can cope with a black interior. I should prioritise condition/history over colours but that would be sensible and an old RR isnt a sensible purchase Very Happy

What age L322 are you looking at?

My Silver L322 has black seats and the pillar trims and head liner are in a light colour leather.

IMO that's the perfect balance as the darker interiors wear a LOT better (look at cars with a light interior on eBay and the seats always look a mess) and the lighter trim higher up on the headlining and pillars give the car a lovely airy feel about it.

Black seats with a black headlining and black pillar covers wouldn't be on my shopping list either.

im looking for a 4.4tdv8.

The one with dark interior has a light colour headlining and pillars, if it did have a dark headlining it would be a definite no!

Point taken re dark interior wearing better!

I can’t be doing with light coloured seats etc, as others have said, they don’t wear well. I’ve also got black seats, trim and doors with a light coloured headlining and pillars - perfect.

It's a 405 so a bit different to a 322 but I love the Ebony leather seats and doors of the Autobiography and an Ebony Alcantara pillars and roof and smoked walnut....

The best colour available...... Lets start an argument!!

Geoff,

It's not a bad colour representation, I don't know why they call it Ebony..?? the same reason the wood is called "Smoked Walnut" I suppose, they have to think of a new name every couple of years.

My 322 S/C had a black interior and that was called Jet and was very black...

The camera was the best Apple could supply.... Rolling with laughter Thumbs Up Pete

Ok, in my opinion this is the best interior. Up till now a white interior was a must for me, but!!!!!!
Every time I get in I look around, its stunning

And while your at it, roll up your jacket sleeves and get that goldie looking chain tangled in your chest hair.

Lets be honest, it's black, it's always been black, and it always will be black so there's and end to it.

Let the debate begin.

This reminds me when a friend visited a Mercedes dealer -

Potential customer to salesperson - I would like to look at the black car at the back
Salesperson - Oh you mean the one in Obsidian Sir
Customer - Pardon, what colour exactly is Obsidian then ?
Sales - Ahh that is black Sir
Banging Head Thud

On a personal note, my 06 RR has a light interior with navy seats whilst my 07 FF has a black interior, both cars have factory tints to the windows, the 06 car feels a lot lighter and more spacious inside despite all dimensions being the same, that is my favourite, feels a lot roomier.

Well Andy, what can I say, might have guessed, boring white with black interior, probably goes with your white socks & black shoes Whistle
