New Battery Question

I had a new battery fitted just under 2 years ago. It was a Yuasa Silver non AGM with a 5 year waranty. It wasn't coded to the car when fitted.

I have just had a replacement fitted which is now a quality AGM version.

Does the car need to be told it has a new battery to ensure its correctly charged?

My son tells me this battery will die early as the car will over charge thinking it's an old battery.

Idealy yes. If you realy care about the best possible care and upkeep of your car you would be wise to get a GAP IID tool and you can do it through this. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I did but the GAP Tool doesn't go as high as the battery spec, nor does it differentiate between different battery types.

It might have something to do with monitoring battery health, but I find it's total rubbish as a device in itself, even when 100% charged on the bench and then put in it never registers above 78%, that seems to be it's ceiling, in my car that is.

So I set it to the highest spec in the tool. If it does do something then whatever it is it's not covering my particular battery.
