Most of what you hear on the internet really is pure conjecture, as to the differences in quality between OEM and aftermarket alternatives, -you literally have no other way to compare the differences between suppliers than by experimentation, this goes for both discs and friction materials

Agreed, in the absence of any objective, figured testing as there is for tyres (which seems unlikely to happen, given spec variables across vehicles), you have no idea.

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Santorini Black

Mines a L322 but, just bought Brembo discs for both ends purely because they have a nice thick anti rust coating.
Boxes were sealed with a Brembo hologram and they were made in Poland!!
Pairing them with EBC Greenstuff pads so I'm keeping my fingers crossed they work out OK.

Bit of idle googling….From memory there was no indication on the Lr front discs who makes them, but LR016176 is made in Poland and a statement sheet I found from Brembo it lists the clients of its Dabrowa Gornicza plant, with LR among them…..

However the new superceeded part no LR189039 seems to be made, at least by Brembo in china….. can just make it out on the box….

My original Thought was the LR would be made in china but……Edit….. I found a pic, they are also made in Poland……

So current Brembo production for replacement discs is china, Land Rover is Poland will have a root and see if I can find info on TRW, Delphi and Jurid. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I’ve gone down a rabbit hole……

One interesting brake disc company is Zimmerman. They make their discs in germany and have good waffle on their site about how they match materials to the original discs etc and their products perform to exactly the same standards as OE.

https://www.otto-zimmermann.de/en/products/sport-brake-discs/

🤷‍♂️ i suppose at the end of the day you pays the money and takes the choice…… I might give them a bash and see what theyre like… they aren’t a budget option at about the same price as Brembo, but they aren’t shipped 1/2 way round the world….. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
