2.0 P400e Mixed reviews on here!

I’m considering a P400e as my next FF. Reading old threads on here, it seems to divide opinion.

I’m concerned about the 300hp performance of a petrol only engine in a vehicle the size of a FF but think it worth the compromise if the EV side of things work as they should, 95% of our journeys are under 20 miles.

But in typical LR tradition, reviews on here seem to suggest it’s a bit hit and miss. I would think a short test drive is not going to be conclusive either. And as we are looking at a 20reg a LR warranty won’t be in place for back up. Not that I’m full of confidence in LR managing to fault find an EV issue in a hybrid!!

Whilst fuel economy will never top the priority list of a FF owner if they can be run more cheaply without too much of the FF experience being lost, why not!!

I run a full electric van and charging 100% at home on a night tariff costs me approximately £15 a week, as opposed to my last diesel van which was costing £100 a week. Home charging really makes EV’s a good option.

I’ve owned LR’s since the 90’s, often a few at the same time but unfortunately the last 2 (newest I’ve owned) have both been lemons. The latest being a Sport that blew its engine up at very low mileage. Luckily an aftermarket warranty covered most of the £12000 bill!!

It’s left me somewhat wary of my next purchase and dare I say my 30 year relationship with LR hangs in the balance Confused

Just like any other Range Rover, when it works it is the best, most versatile car in the world.
Compared to the previous version, this one’s much more reliable, but this doesn’t mean that it’s flawless, especially when you think that over an already sophisticated architecture, they added a lot of electrical & computer stuff. That said, I haven't encountered yet a problem that would stop the car from being used. We chose a plug-in hybrid because it suits our way of life, that is almost 90% 20 miles daily commute. Also taxes are almost 0 here for it.
A cheap OBD reader is useful for detecting faulty sensors and both 12v batteries must be checked often as they are the cause of many otherwise inexplicable errors.
Power is enough for regular use, there is always a reserve, so the electric motor contributes to the output when required.

2005 Range Rover Vogue SE Td6 Java Black

Having owned a MY21 P400e AB for approx 2mths now, I can say it’s a pleasure to drive and does come with enough power to make it nippy when required. It’s not a car that you want to drive quick anyway, it’s a very pleasurable coasting luxurious style of driving. My other car is a V8 C63 so I’m used to a high powered vehicle and don’t think this RR is underpowered with the 2.0 engine in it. The EV range is crap but good enough to do the school run or local running around. I’ve a friend who has the MY23 and the EV range is double so I will eventually upgrade in a year or two when they come down to 60k ish. In the meantime I will continue to enjoy this car, as I have my my previous 3 FFRRs. MY10 3.6 TD V8 Autobiography

Yeah, about the range of the new PHEV, a very interesting opinion from Harry Metcalfe, he says it's not as efficient as the old one, check out at 18:06:

But the whole review is interesting, as always.

Similar comments as Neil E. I have had my 2021 P400e Fifty for a few months now. I find the performance is very good even at the traffic lights Grand Prix Whistle It is extremely quiet & a nice place to be in. Battery, although it says 30 miles at a full charge, probably low to mid 20's in real life. For my mileage, it would be ideal if it got 50miles, but 20ish is fine. Just means I have to plug it in a bit more, but I'm never in so much of a hurry that I always need it fully charged. I use a granny charger & its fine for my usage.
Looking at the journeys on the in control app, it sometimes says EV usage zero miles but the dashboard readout says its dropped by 1 or 2 miles. It sometimes drops 1 mile just taking it out the garage to wash it & my wash bay is not 1 mile from the house Rolling with laughter
I leave the car to decide what mode its in, EV, Petrol, combined, whatever.
Only gripe is that there is not a physical handbook, where you can sit in the car with the book & try things. Half the stuff its able to do, I have never used Thumbs Up
