Instrument cluster no comms?

I’ve been having problems with my L322 electrical systems playing up for a month or two. I had an auto electrician round to do a diagnostic check, and the main problem came back as “instrument cluster no comms”

So the instrument cluster was removed and sent off to ecutesting.com for repair.

They’ve just come back to me and said they can’t test the cluster or offer a repair, so that’s that as far as they are concerned.

The thing is, I can source a brand new instrument cluster, but would it need to be programmed before it’s fitted?

And is that something a mobile auto electrician can do? He has access to the full Land Rover diagnostic systems (not cheap I’m told) but can it be done roadside, or is it a garage job?

When the auto electrician initially tried to run a diagnostic check of the system, the instrument cluster ECU fault was preventing him from accessing other modules. Which is why that was the first repair identified.

I have a IID diagnostic tool for that year and model I am around at some stage between Christmas and new year so might be able to come over and try it ? Not sure if it can do what you need

Wow, what a generous offer!

But at the moment the old cluster is in the post on its way back to me, and I have yet to buy the new one.

I’m also going fishing with my oldest son on Monday 23rd December, and won’t get back home until Saturday 28th (bah humbug, stuff Christmas and all that forced Bonhomie) so won’t be in a position to need a diagnostic tool until at least after then.

But I am genuinely bowled over by your kind offer!!
