On a trip to a friends bash at the weekend, our early L322 started juddering through the steering. Pulled over to check it out and found the nsf wheel to be hot hot. Sticky caliper. No time to sort recovery or do anything about it so left it overnight and in the morning nursed it to my friend's place. He very kindly did the dirty work(defo my bestie, no questions), stripped and cleaned the offending caliper, where we found the piston to be corroded. Put it back together and sent us on our way home without further issues, albeit at an easy pace...
So today have been trying to get brake overhaul parts but am unable to find the pistons... Not having taken any measurements whilst we were cleaning and inspecting, I am not sure what's what..Looking for BMW or LR part number for early L322 single piston BMW unit Most of the usual suspects, including Advanced Factors don't seem to supply the pistons, just complete calipers. The microfiche on the Wiki doesn't separate out the piston either. Any suggestions, or if you happen to have one lying around, measurements, much appreciated

If the corrosion on the piston isn’t too bad l would be inclined to remove the pads, pump out the piston gently until all the corrosion is exposed, remove the rubber dirt cover and simply use a fine emery paper to remove the corrosion. If you can get the surface ok lubricate with brake fluid and push it back in and refit the dirt cover. The chances are it will last and work for years.
There is a possibility that the bore of the calliper cylinder is also corroded but from my experience cleaning and lubricating the piston usually resolves the issue.
The alternative is to buy refurbished callipers off eBay and replace the existing, to be honest they are not expensive.

Thanks for the suggestions. Have found suppliers of all parts necessary to repair/service or replace the caliper, which as you say are not expensive....
