can 2016 MY take CarPlay adapter?

saw this in a post on here and bought one but cant make to work (doesn't get recognised by car on plugging into socket) - just want to make sure it's compatible first rather than me doing it wrong! vehicle is Nov 2015 with old "side" screen buttons.

Pretty sure you need OE carplay or android auto which will be wired....this makes it wireless.. ... - .- -.

ahhh ......B@gger!

Thanks Stan. I must have misinterpreted the original post and thought this would give me wireless car play via my phone and this widget. Ho hum, back to the drawing board!!
