Options questions

Hi, I am speccing a D350 SWB. I am thinking to go for SE and then add the options I want. A few questions if anyone can advise
1. The off-road pack seems to include some things that used to be standard for on-road driving, for controlling power to each wheel on turning. Is this a noticeable feature, should I consider it?
2. The technology pack includes head up display. I have only ever used it on the test drive which is not long enough to get accustomed. Do you get used to it? Would you miss it if you didnt have it?
3. I note there has been discussion on wheels on another thread. I will want two sets, one for winter. I am thinking of 21 inch. Does anyone think that's a mistake?
4. Anyone used snow chains? I currently have Spikes Spyders Alpine Pro that do large vehicles. Anyone used them on L460? I note that the book now outs LR chains on rear wheels which is sub-optimal. I guess it means there is insufficient space in the front.
5. I note comments about people having problems with the car using collision avoidance to prevent traction when reversing. The iguide says you can turn it off. Does it stay off, or do you need to do it every time?
Thanks
George

HUD is amazing and would never have a car without it. Apart from current speed, it even projects the sat nav turn instruction when approaching the junction and when changing radio stations etc 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

My car has HUD. I didn’t specify it but it was already on the car (dealer demonstrator). It’s about the one option I wouldn’t now do without. 2016 SDV8 AB

Is is possible to have HUD on an HSE model? I can’t find any reference to a technology pack or a chance to specify HUD as a standalone extra. 2016 SDV8 AB

We have a D350HSE and the HUD was (and still is as far as I know) standard fit.
It's certainly a worthwhile feature although I only have current speed limit and actual speed displayed.

Thank you TMO - I’ve now found it. They don’t make browsing standard and optional extras very easy now… 2016 SDV8 AB

HUD you will never have a car without once you’ve used it, for me there are a few others that I always spec and will walk away if not available.
* sunroof
* premium sound (Meridian signature)
* premium seats
* HUD
* decent headlights ( matrix )
* pre heat cabin conditioning
I know I’m as shallow as a puddle but why spend so much and not be comfy ? 2021 SVautobiography Dynamic Black ( Black wheels need to go )

We went with the HSE rather than SE, the SE seems a little basic to me. Little things like better leather on the seats, soft close doors, etc. just lift the car without going the full ATB.
The HUD is very useful, I'd definitely miss it.
The Off Road Pack is poorly named because, as you say, it includes some things that are more for on-road driving such as Dynamic Response Pro. I definitely think that's worth it it (although others differ). My feeling is that DRP means that the suspension doesn't have to compromise, it can tighten up for bends and then soften on motorways. On cruise control the car slows for corners and junctions which is weird until you get used to it (although this may be a standard feature rather than DRP).
I haven't used our chains yet although maybe that'll change when we drive to the alps in a month or two.
The cabin pre-conditioning seems to working well now although when we first got the car it didn't seem to do much at all, so I think that maybe the heating system 'learns the car' rather like modern central heating systems.
The Gesture Tailgate really doesn't work reliably unless you are wearing size 12 steel toe cap boots.
The Digital LED Headlights definitely worth the extra.
We stuck with 22" wheels (5127) which seemed a decent compromise and it's in Varesine Blue with the Shadow Pack and a Caraway interior - everyone seems to like the combination.

I'm in an L405 but I agree on the LED lamps, they are terrific.

Another of your points, FBH was similar to yours as in it was ineffective and didnt heat the cab. I deliberately used it more and more and it has got better and better, the last frost we had it completely defrosted the car and was lovely and warm inside. It seems like it needed a few cycles of operation to get it working properly. First time FFRR owner
