Emergency Neutral lever

Preparing for the day that I need it, I'm looking for the neutral lever on my 2015 L405 TDV6. I believe that it's under the cup holders but how does the liner come out without damaging something? I can see a little slot at the rear edge. Any suggestions?

I think you need a screwdriver to lever the tab at the bottom of the cup holder - on the right of your picture

Workshop manual just says -

To disengage the park lock:
Slide open the drinks compartment lid in the floor console.
Remove the trim from the base of the drinks compartment.
Rotate the locking cylinder of the emergency park release lever 90
degrees counterclockwise.
Apply the footbrake, pull the operating lever upwards and ensure it locks
in the vertical position.
Raising the operating lever causes the emergency park release cable to
rotate the park interlock lever on the transmission, which disengages the
parking pawl and engages neutral. This allows the vehicle to freewheel.

The compartment base submitted to poking and prodding with a flat blade screwdriver to reveal the Neutral selector mechanism in all it's glory.
All I need now is a recovery to try it out. Big Cry (Don't tempt fate}
Thanks for the info
Pete

It is actually a great thing to do sitting in the driveway.

My Son's 2016 L494 needed this and we found out in the middle of the night that the cable had popped out of the red 'lever' (I don't think it was ever inserted properly). Then once we got that sorted - we found out that the little clip that holds it 'unlocked' was messed up so we had to wedge a pair of needle nose in the dup holder to keep it open...
