Battery Charger for Off-Car Charging?

Hi all, I know there are many posts about which would be the best charger to use to trickle charge or fully charge a battery that is still on the car but I was wondering what people would recommend for charging with the battery off of the car.

To give this some context I have a 2019 L405 which I am planning on replacing the batteries on. My main battery is the original one but is still showing as good and I have had no problems with it so I intend to keep it and use it primarily as a backup power source. I intend to use it to power an electric pump for when I am doing an oil change so I dont have to worry about connecting to the vehicle whilst the pump is running.

So, obviously I will need to charge this battery and wasthinking that maybe a CTEK charger would be overkill for this task and was wondering what others use for charging an AGM battery? _______________________________________________

I have a CTEK and use it for anything & everything related to battery charging. Yours sounds like a perfect use for one & not sure why it would be considered overkill - just a good excuse to buy one if you don´t already have one Cool

Well, a CTEK MXS5 or similar will do both jobs and if you can plug it into the vehicle regularly, will help your new battery last longer. (I added an external socket hidden in one of the small front grilles)
Appreciate not everyone has the convenience of being parked close to a domestic socket such as in a garage, etc.

No doubt others will recommend other ideas, I have an old Halfords 7amp charger I never use since I got my CTEK. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?
