Hi, I have recently purchased an 2016 l405 that has the smaller type infotainment screen with the touchscreen buttons either side of the screen.

And I want to replace it with the never the wide screen all in one screen from like a 2017 if possible.

I have found a reasonable priced screen from a 2017 but I’m wondering if it’s as easy as just replacing the screen and it will work or is the software in a separate module that will need to be replaced aswell? I was hoping I could gain Apple car play aswell as I believe the newer head units have this?

I’ll try and upload a couple pictures to help clear up the changes I want.

Does anyone know if this is a simple upgrade or if I’d have to replace all of the modules or if the wiring connections are different and it won’t fit anyway. I prefer keeping it an oem look and I’m wary of the quality of the cheap aftermarket units you can get so not sure about those units.

Pretty sure it's not an option, too much is different....

AFAIK Android is the only way to go.....

Pete's correct, the canbus is different from 2016 t0 2017 onwards...

Thanks for that, that’s a shame I thought where would end up being something different.

Guess the android route would be the only way forward.
