A bit of confusion here - this is (IMHO) the correct method, especially if you are having to use the standard jack. This is true for both the L322 and L405 ...

1. Park on as level an area as possible, then apply handbrake as well as placing in 'Park'.
2. Get the spare wheel and jack out of the boot.
3. Raise to 'Off Road' height (this reduces the load on the jack significantly).
4. 'Crack off' the wheel nuts.
5. Chock the diagonally opposite wheel.
6. Jack up, replace the wheel as necessary (if doing more than a simple wheel swap, an axle stand is a MUST for safety).
7. Lower to ground, then torque up the nuts fully (140 Nm, or 104 lb/ft).
8. Remove chocks and put away all tools and equipment.

Notes:
a) Opening the boot or turning on on the hazard lights does nothing (that's an old P38 trick).
b) Opening a door, whilst stopping height adjustment, will not prevent an initial hiss of air (the car will attempt to keep to the level it was at as it is unloaded, so as to not hit the roof of a low garage!).

Hope this helps ... Regards,
Mick

Thumbs Up on the open door info. Next time I'll pull the fuse to stop it adjusting. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
