Hi All,

My new to me L322 will be arriving on Friday. I’m thinking I’ll treat it to underbody treatment for rust protection but would like your collective thoughts on good company’s to use. I’m based in Warwickshire if anyone has a good recommendation it would be greatly appreciated.

I can’t lanoguard as using chemicals isn’t allowed on the shared drive ! Which is frustrating but I don’t mind paying a professional as I don’t have much spare time.

I did look at before n after but would like some forum knowledge before committing as that was £700 ish.

I would do some further research into before and after. I think there are better products to use than Waxoyl, especially on a modern Range Rover.

I use Lanoguard and highly rate it. Appreciate you can’t do a DIY job on your drive but there are places that will clean and then apply Lanoguard professionally. The Car Spa here in Buckingham does, but I expect there will be places closer to Warwick.

I guess Buckingham isn’t that far, I’ll keep researching and see what else crops up in this thread.

I recall the Lanoguard site recommends “applicators” of the product. When I got a quote I think it was £700, they wanted it for 2 days but did specify in some details what they did. At the time I didn’t have the option to leave it two days as it was a bit of a distance away.

I’ll look up who it was, I think it wasn’t too far for you, could be wrong.

Just had a look but can’t find it again now, think it was out towards Shrewsbury though so probably a bit far. There’s a couple of nearer ones on the Lanoguard site though, I think you’d be safer working with one of them as you have some reassurance they will do a decent job.

I recall the quote I had included removing all the plastics and other junk underneath that gets in the way, cleaning, removal of any surface rust, rust protection and finally application of the product.

Best thing is talk to a couple on the phone and you pretty quickly get a feeling for who is serious about it, this is how I ended up looking at one over an hour drive away but just never lined it up.

As above, just spraying Lanoguard isn't enough, you really want to be treating any rust before. Have a look at the YouTube channel Sam's Motors and Machines, he does a good Winter Prep video which includes using Nutrarust to stop any rust in it's tracks then Lanoguard to help protect. You definitely need to get the arch liners and sill protectors off, it's a 2 day job allowing for drying time.

Also look at fitting the Defender (or Freelander?) arch protectors to help protect the rears. A simple job but apparently very effective. YouTube for more details.

My advice is to speak to them first as has been stated you really need them to address the ugly bits before applying any product. Ask them what the process is.

FYI: I had mine professionally treated with Dinitrol which included a rust prevention ( Dinitrol 4010 ) around two years ago. I’ve found it to be pretty good except a few things things :

1.) you get covered in the stuff when doing any work underneath; it does cure but remains soft so it comes off on skin and tools to some degree
2.) my MOT tester doesn’t like it : it’s on the brake lines and PS lines and I get advisories as it looks rough to the inspector and, ironically, gets confused with developing corrosion.
3.) it does lift overtime on some of the sharper edges so it needs topping up every couple of years.
4.) its black rather clear so if there is any reoccurring corrosion underneath it’s hard to find out about it.

Knowing what I know now I think I’d have gone the Lanogurd route to start off with and will probably do a top up with Lanoguard next summer.

Note that Lanoguard requires redoing every 2 to 3 years or so.

Overall I’ve been pretty pleased with Dinitrol, especially in the arches and internal cavities which show no sign of any corrosion whatsoever.
