What does a failing Turbo Sound like?!?!

Brain trust... I am despondent.
L405 Td6 111K
Long story short - what does a failing/failed turbo sound like? Details below

After almost a month, I got the Oil Cooler replaced, The timing belt replaced and got it all put back together mechanically (still no wipers and the cowl panels, bash plates, etc...).
It took a month with trips to build sheds in Nashville, TN and college football and wrenchin' (spannerin') after work and waiting on parts from Jolly Ol' England...

Cycled the ignition 3 or 4 times and then tried to start it. Took a couple of tries and then it came to LIFE!
Grabbed the Mrs. and said Honey we are goin' for a ride! Quarter mile from the house accelerating up a hill - not hammering it, but testing the water... There wasn't really a pop... but power dropped to not much and Restricted Performance came up... Terrible sound like cats fighting - WREEERW WREERW
tied to the pedal. Turned around and coasted much of the way home.
It has kind of a rubbing sound - not really a scraping sound... sounds a bit like a Censored off cat - Wreeerw wreeerw - absolutely tied to the pedal. Idles fine but starts up with the cat sound when I get above about 2200 RPM.

What could I have effed up in replacing the Oil Cooler and timing belt that would affect the turbo? I'm not 100% sure where the turbo is...

Any thougts appreciated - as always. 2006 L322 HSE LUX 4.4NA Jag V8 Buckingham Blue/Ivory - 'Col Reb'

You could have popped a turbo hose off somewhere and the sound your hearing is the escaping air. Hoses may well have been disconnected to do the timing belt.

Turbos can fail in various ways. Worn seals can leak oil in, which causes smoking, and mechanical failures of seals can lead to screeching / scraping metal sounds as the vanes rub on the housing. V8 or else ...

Thanks for responding fisha.
So you're thinking split or loose hose somewhere over the turbo itself?
I took a couple of water hoses off, but really only 2 air hoses. The one coming out of the air box and heading down and the main large intake that's says GEN2.

To narrow the search, would it be a hose after the turbo? Is the large intake (GEN2) supposed to be taught when revving? I thought burst hoses would produce a lot of smoke. I don't think there was any...

I will get it up on ramps and get the Mrs. to rev as I poke around. 2006 L322 HSE LUX 4.4NA Jag V8 Buckingham Blue/Ivory - 'Col Reb'

To be honest, with actually hearing it, its hard to say.

You could have you wife revving the engine with you looking in listening to pin point where the sound is realistically coming from. V8 or else ...

A 3ft length of rubber hose in your ear will help in pinpointing the source. Be careful of moving parts.

Happydaze - I believe the phrase was "Up your NOSE with a rubber hose"... Although that may have been Welcome Back Kotter not Happy Days... 2006 L322 HSE LUX 4.4NA Jag V8 Buckingham Blue/Ivory - 'Col Reb'

More Info on Turbo/Timing Issue

Brain Trust:
2016 L405 Td6 - 111K
More info on the Oil Cooler Leak/Timing Belt replace...
I appear to have 2 problems... (lucky me)
1. 'Boost' appears to be a vacuum!?!?!? When I rev, the main Boost hose going into the Electric Throttle starts to collapse(vacuum?).
I am not saying there is NO WAY I left a blue rag in the plastic pipe going from the air box to the turbo... But the 'intake' pipe is still sucking air, and the 'boost hose is still pushing air, but apparently not as much as it should...
Anyone ever had a blue rag go through a turbo? It is not a full blockage, as there is still vacuum heading to the Turbo and air being pushed out.
2. Removed the 'Accessory'/Serpentine belt - Engine still screams.

Removed the timing cover - still screams - kind of sounds like it is coming from the (Engine) left cam?!?!!? The special pins still go in the holes of the cams(I have not re-removed the starter) but I think it is in time...

Any thought/suggestions are appreciated.
