Which Vehicle Checking service/s do you use?

I'm on the hunt for a new (to me) vehicle and alongside the obvious excitement of pouring over adverts and photographs; there is the more serious side of due diligence to reduce the likelihood of landing a lemon!

I live in Scotland, which tends to mean that I'm miles away from the majority of available vehicles, so I need to rely quite heavily on the data to narrow my search before I travel to kick some tyres. This is becoming an expensive exercise - and that's before I add in any surveys and travel costs etc.

(NB I have posted a 'Wanted' add on the forum [https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic71677.html] in the hope of benefitting from the upkeep/history of a genuine enthusiast, but no leads so far...)

I wondering which service/s you use to check out prospective purchases and sift through the sales-pitches? I've used CarVertical in the past, but it seems to be one of the more expensive offerings - even after discounts from the likes of Matt (shout out to @HighPeakAutos) and the other myriad of YouTube celebs.

I've no experience of vcheck.uk, but I hear good things...

Do most of these services pull from the same underlying data sources? or do some offer a far more extensive (and reliable??) set of information that justifies the higher price tag?

What would you suggest?

I use the following:

www.vcheck.uk

You can buy a bundle of say 10 which if looking for a car is handy.

This is an example of what you can get, including salvage images if available:

Hope this helps,
Jon

Fundamentally yes, in as far as it’s mostly publicly available but the links to salvage history gets a bit more hit and miss.

For me, VCHECK has worked very well as if a car has a salvage marker I’m not really interested in knowing more. The mileage history and changes in ownership are of more interest as it can reveal a lot.
