My MAP gas torch does the same Stan, works perfectly when vertical to horizontal but tipping it over further, i.e. more upside down and it tends to go out. I just work around it but good to know if there is a solution or just the way they work. Jonathan

What torch have you got Stan, I’ve got a rothenberger super fire 2 and use it mostly on Mapp and it works any way up. 🤷♂️

Without doubt you are allowing liquid to exit torch. Its a gas burner, hold the cylinder vertical this allows only gas to exit! 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue |

I have two different torches, one with a pencil flame I use on brake pipe connections and the other for plumbing jobs which started flairing up after purchase a new cylinder, after swopping cylinders about it's down to the cylinder so only I would say is try a different cylinder, as an aside had to sign in on my phone for this reply and boy is it hard work! Yep, very old “proper” one Stan….. they seem to be stupid money at the moment. Was looking to replace it recently with a new one as the trigger is iffy and the flow control knob is fubar but will solder on with it for a bit longer.
