HAND BRAKE

New L460 owner question.
On my L405 when stationary in traffic I pull up the little hand brake handle to apply and push the accelerator to release.
I assume the little square marked P by the gear lever in the L460 is the hand brake.
Pressed the button today when stopped in traffic and then pressed the accelerator to go.
Brake did not release. Tried pressing the button to release but no joy.
Assuming the hand brake will release automatically what am I doing wrong?
Apologies for what is probably a stupid question but there is no operators manual with the vehicle.

L460‘s handbrake is integrated in the regular brake pedal and offers a double function. The parking brake and the hold function.

1.
Once stopped in traffic, press the pedal a bit more and you see the „hold“ sign on the dashboard.
The brake is now activated and as long as the engine is in drive, it releases automatically by pushing the gas pedal.
2.
Once the ignition is off, brake is automatically activated.
3.
There is on the menu also an „auto hold“ function, once activated it always works once stopped and holds the car automatically.
But, if you drive thru a carwash, you have to deactivate auto hold, as it doesn’t allow to roll in „N“ (neutral).
Also it is problematic once parking the car as it is connected to the pdc and it stops itself while there is still a lot of space left. So you need to push again the gas and then it’s getting risky as it moves than to fast.

I love the simple „hold“ function, as it works perfect, it’s a convenient upgrade. RR Classic 1998-2005
