Here's a novel idea - fit cars with a receptacle to store the key in when you are using the car. It could even have a second use such as starting and stopping the car - oh wait, we used to have them and IIRC they were called ignition switches.

I seem to recall my M5 had a little slot to hold the (keyless) key... It usually stayed in my pocket, or went in the cup holders. Like it does in the Range Rover.

I'm usually too worried about leaving it in the car to tuck it away somewhere.

Pocket , but watch out…. If you lock the car , presumably just press lock on the fob, will not activate the lock, but whilst in the car it disables the key.
The only way to reactivate the key is by using the second key.. or the app…. Except they disabled the app.

So the second key is a tough call if you left the second key at home & you are in the south of france.

Happened to me two weeks ago, fortunately at home. I assume I had pressed the lock key accidentally, anyway twas disabled. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. I hang my keys on this hook that I bought from eBay! That way I’m not worried about it scratching the piano black finish around cup holders.

I like the little hook idea.

Still can't find the slot behind the cup holders.

Tend to keep mine in the cup holders. I’ve only got a door key and the fob on the ring so it will fit in the little space between the 2 if we have drinks. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Mine is in the cup holders too. Which isn't ideal if you have a couple of bottles of water there. I don't want it in my pocket as I disabled keyless so need to press the buttons.

I've bunged it in the door pocket occasionally, but then I forget. I walk in the house, don't lock it (I don't need to, as it's on an enclosed drive), and spend 30 minutes the next morning looking for my key.

No slot on mine either. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black

Always in my pocket. No other keys with it, just the fob. Don't see the merit in having it loose in the car - in my pocket I've always got it, in the car its odds on I'll forget it when I get out. Mike - MPx

Glad I haven't got a slot on mine, was getting quite fretful searching for it!

Guess I'll continue to chuck it in the cup holders then. It was in my pocket most of last week, which became an issue when the boss wanted to use the Rangey.

"It's in my jeans pocket" is apparently the incorrect answer.
