2012 4.4tdv8 rear sensor - suspension fault

Hi folks

Suspension fault warning message appeared the other day - gapIID says right rear sensor not operating and right enough the life values option on the GapIID tool confirmed this giving a reading of 0.0 so clearly it is foobarred....

But today going out to the RR I noticed it was down on the bump stops at the rear?

Same thing happened when I left work today - so had to raise the suspension to get it back to normal.

So is the bumpstop issue likely caused by the broken sensor? Or is it more likely an issue with the bag?

Cheers folks πŸ‘

Broken sensor will cause the suspension to drop overnight as the self leveling system will be confused. Best to buy a genuine part as there have been reported issues with pattern parts. Before you order one check the physical linkage and the electrical connector / wiring. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

If the ride height arm isn't broken, try running that wheel over a pothole to give it a thump.
Twice over the years I've set off on a long trip and 30 mins in my suspension went rock hard. A quick look on the sat nav screen confirmed which corner and a few potholes later it suddenly corrected itself and all was sweet thereafter. I've had the corner drop as well as raise itself to the max. In fairness it tended to happen when I hadn't been driving it for a few weeks. Rehab is for quitters!!!

Thanks Jaygee and dijit - I might try disconnecting it and giving it a clean but not holding my breath - although it worked for the other side last week....

If i have to replace sensor- is it easy enough to remove the bracket that holds the sensor? Going to try that as I've heard its almost impossible to take it off in place.

Thanks again

Mine was intermittently faulty and I ignored it. It then failed and nearly left me stranded as the suspension collapsed. My advice is if it’s not the wiring or physical connector then replace it. I also now carry a spare front and rear sensor in the car to get me out of trouble. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
