Where do you put your key?

No, I'm not looking to steal your Rangey, I mean when you get in?

I usually chuck mine in the centre console drinks holder, but that's annoying when I have drinks there.

Or do you just keep it in your pocket?

In the little slot behind the cupholders.

There's a slot behind the cup holders?

Pocket and forget it. Not a huge fan of keyless but it's nice to not have to fumble for keys every time

Stays in my pocket. Always the left hand trouser pocket too, that way I know I have the key with me.

Mine always goes in my front pocket too - but I don't have any other keys attached to it, so it's not uncomfortable.

I guess if I had a more manly set off keys on a ring with fobs etc. then I'd need to find a new home for them.

I do have spare house keys on rings that hang from clips on the under side of the arm rest. I have 3 houses so never want to arrive & realise the keys are somewhere else.

Changed to RH pocket as I was always catching the tailgate button with the steering wheel and unlocking the tailgate in daughters Freelander (Not good with the dog in the back even though it has a harness on) Whistle 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

In the L322 I quite often put mine in the door handle on the door card as I don't like it in my pocket whilst in the car.

To be fair though, the late L322 key is much chunkier then the L405 keys are.

For the size of the car, I often think to myself how crap the 'to-hand' storage is in the L405.

Personally, I dont like things in my pockets when driving, so I jump in with keys, wallet, phone, work pass etc, and then you have your wife who has her phone and what not too and beyond the 2 cup holders, there just isn't much quick chuckable space to use ... esp if you want to have a drink in the cupholders. Yes there is the door cubbies I suppose but they are faffy.

The original L322 use to have great little dookit under the headlight light switch which would take you wallet and phone just perfectly. I always wonder why that was taken away.

Yet if you jump in a defender ... its brilliant. V8 or else ...

Here's a novel idea - fit cars with a receptacle to store the key in when you are using the car. It could even have a second use such as starting and stopping the car - oh wait, we used to have them and IIRC they were called ignition switches.

Yes, presumably it’s to slide the cup holders forward with.
