United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Vogue SDV8 Santorini Black

I've not got an IID, and use a Snap-on Modis system at the garage where I occasionally work.

There didn't seem any means of measuring oil level through the Modis system - the error that comes up is "P250A-37 Engine Oil Level Sensor Circuit Signal Frequency Too High".

I'd suspect that the IID would read the same, though would be happy to be corrected on that. Current:

Have you disconnected the plug in the side of the sump for the sensor to check for oil in the connector? If oil is present then a short ext loom is available that prevents the oil migrating to the turbo electronics which could be the cause of the sensor irregularities and might save having to replace the sensor c/w lead.

Many thanks for the offers and suggestions:

Quick update on where everything is up to:
- I've bought a set of take-off 20" wheels and tyres, so have the 22" style 7008 wheels/tyres if anyone is interested (pic below).

- Sadly no change on the oil level sensor issue. The plug at the side of the sump has got oil in it, which I've cleaned out to the best of my ability but has had no effect. Maltings 4x4 are doing quite a few of the sensor change jobs and the oil in the plug is as a result of the sensor/wiring in the sump breaking down. It's looking as if there is no viable alternative to undertaking the 10-hours to change the sensor then refitting with the LR136706/LR117163 modification as a protection if it happens again, though I believe the wiring has been improved as a result of the problems.

- Currently working on the radar cruise control re-fit as per www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic47538.html?hi...se+control and www.rangerovers.net/threads/adaptive-cruis...-to.340817 . Switches and radar unit now fitted, and now have to get access to the "full CCF" function to change the ACC settings, which I believe can be done with a IID tool - if anyone can help in the Cheshire/South Manchester area with this I'd be grateful. Does the JLR SDD have this capability?

Would really like to do this mod to my Vogue. Interested to hear from anyone if they have installed the retrofit and got everything working? My LR garage told me it wasn't possible.. 2017 Range Rover Vogue V6 Diesel

The thread on the rangerovers.net forum would suggest it can be done. I'll put any updates I'm able to achieve onto this thread. Here's hoping.... Current:

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Vogue SDV8 Santorini Black

A final post on this thread...

Last week, I spotted a 2017 3.0 Autobiography locally at a good price and have bought that, so my 2013 is now up for sale....

The summary of the last 4.5 years is:
- I've done 50,412 miles.
- Put in 8,107 litres [1783 gals], which is 28.3mpg, at an average of £2,582/year.
- Servicing [bear in mind I do a lot of this myself] has been an average of £259/year.
- Repairs have cost an average of £514/year. Big ticket items have been front control arms, oil cooler, EGR-A valve, a battery and an aircon condenser. The cheapest fix was the ABS sensor, which required taking the plug apart and a bit of soldering.
- Insurance has been an average of £372/year.
- Car tax has been an average of £588/year.
- Depreciation has been about £1,700/year, and most of that has been in the last 12-months - try to get that on a newer car...

Takeaways from the experience:
- The 4.4 SDV8 really is a fabulous engine [quite why I'm going into a V6 is beyond me with the risk of crank failure, except I can't take the V8 into the Glasgow ULEZ zone and the 2017 was a good price].
- The L405 is a much better car than the L322 - more comfortable, harder wearing & more reliable.
- The 21" wheels really are the best compromise between looks and comfort.
- The best upgrade has been fitting an IDCORE Apple CarPlay kit.
- I never bothered to fix the oil level sender [which is such a stupid design flaw] as I measured oil going in and coming out, and couldn't see any noticable difference. I also use the dipstick down the oil extraction tube so didn't see the point of spending over £1k on the job just to see the oil level.
- This has been, by far, the most reliable Range Rover I've owned.
- Farewell and I hope the next owner gets as much pleasure from the experience as I did.
