Dim instrument cluster on a MY 2016 L405

So once I fire up the car, the instrument cluster remains quite dim (yet readable) for around 15-20 minutes. The dial for adjusting the brightness works, but only slightly. The ambient light sensors don't seem to have any impact on the brightness levels.

Then, after some driving the cluster turns quite bright and stays like that.
The dial for brightness then no longer has any effect on the cluster nor the infotainment screen.

Had the car for only 1,5 months and only paid attention to this feature over the last week.

Any recommendations for a fix or is this a known feature?

check that battery to see if its up to powering all the electronics on start up.....it could be that after a period the voltage has increased...

if the 12v sockets dont work when you start then thats another indicator of a low power battery. ... - .- -.

Yes I noticed the same on mine today! Gonna check the battery voltage. Is it the main battery or the aux one that I should check?

The main battery was replaced by the dealer this summer before I got the car. No low battery warnings whatsoever or related symptoms. Even the engine start/stop-function works right away (it wouldn't if the charge was too low).

Finally got my iCarsoft LR 3.0 last night and checked and cleared all the errors (engine on, car stationary).

Only 2 errors remain: Quiescent relay box (B1412-96) and Control module output power A (U200D-23)

I forgot to pay attention to the instrument cluster brightness as I was way to keen on checking out the other functions of the tool.

I am going for a drive later on today and see if clearing the faults helped.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't regardless if the car has been sitting for a longer period or not. The ambient light sensors (two dots on the bottom of the screen) don't seem to do a thing if I cover them up or aim a flashlight at them.

This is a minor woe but I like to keep my cars working as they should.

The overall software version is 6355_151125 is it should matter. Looking to have it updated as the main dealer invited me to drop by for a free inspection, campaign updates and free valve caps!

This issue seems to be related to some odd symbiosis with the automatic headlights/running lights. In the proper darkness/night time the manual brightness control seems to work as one would expect.

Sometimes during the daytime if it is cloudy, the manual control only affects the backlights on the on/off-switch and the gear paddles, not the cluster or the screen.

So I think this is only a restrictive feature of the car, not a proper malfunction of the electrics.
