That's quite a number, what is it with the purchase price taken out?

It adds up quickly when you include tax and insurance. Let’s call that alone £3k over 3 years (just paid for the coming 12 months).

I’ll add mine up but suspect I’ll beat that by some margin. I think £2k per year is very good, bearing in mind some of that is cosmetic.

When I recently traded in my 2012 L320 Supercharged (60,000 miles) in July this year against my L405 purchase I added up the maintenance and repairs for five and a half years of ownership. This excluded tax and insurance. The figure was virtually spot on £5500, i.e. £1k per annum. This seemed very reasonable given the size, complexity and performance of the vehicle. I budget for £3k pa, tax, insurance and maintenance. That’s for <10k miles per year. |

I have a spreadsheet of all costs but I don't look at it as even though I would know the exact 'cost' of L322 ownership it would never exceded the 'value' of of L322 ownership. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

Dare I ask why you keep the speed-sheet?! I am just interested in getting some context as far as yearly maintance costs go for people. Guessing if the emotional value didn’t outweigh the costs - we’d all sell! 2009 pre-facelift 3.6 TDV8. |

The latest baseline cost for my MY16 L405 TDV6 was £3,500 per year.

Servicing is no more expensive than any other large premium car esp if you can DIY. Repair costs could be zero one year and £10k the next. It's not worth thinking about IMO unless funds are tight and I wouldn't run one if I didn't know I could repair it whatever the cost ( within reason) or just buy somthing else if it was uneconomical to repair. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

I'm not going to worry about what I've spent in the past, its the future I find a little more worrying

Just had a look at mine and it's costing about £13k per year for everything and I'm doing about 15k miles a year so £0.87 per mile. £4.5k of that is insurance and ULEZ for living in central london. I'm not paying out on finance and depreciation is insignificant. When I cost up buying a £25k ULEZ compliant car (not a JLR product) with a £10k deposit it still works out more expensive even if I don't factor in depreciation which is significant. These figures I like as I can just keep it going..... 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

Yes, L405 SDV8, now gone. TBH though I used the same rule of thumb when had an L322 3.6. Current P525 starts at that, but let’s see! |
