whatsapp on incontrol

searched and cant find a solution to how to get whatsapp on the FF's incontrol system.

i know whatsapp is available on AA and carplay but i'd like it on the OE infotainment..

text messages come through and are read out ok but as everyone uses whatsapp it would be nice to have that function.

any ideas anyone? ... - .- -.

Hi Stan,

I recently purchased the “Timeknow” system from AE for about £60, it’s Apple Wireless/Android Auto wireless compatible. Not tried WhatsApp on it but worth checking out if it’s possible. Quality is great in terms of hardware, software response is fast*, and it remembers your last connected phone and reconnects as soon as you get in & start the car, so much better than faffing about with cables. Touchplay instantaneous, Sound quality is super, I play Amazon Music through it. Original menu is still available. Check out my gallery for screen pics, it’s a perfect fit into the little (coin?) pocket in the centre console just behind the 2 USB sockets.

* - once the car itself has booted up Yawn

Not particularly cheap, but it just works.
I know folks often knock the Chinese stuff, but occasionally some of it is excellent. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

The "Timeknow" is just another wired to wireless CarPlay/AA adapter.
If the car doesn't have CarPlay it won't provide it, it just saves the hassle of plugging the phone into a connector...

Appreciate the info bout AA and carplay be it wired or wireless but as I said in my post I don't want to use those but want to have WhatsApp on the OE incontrol system.... ... - .- -.

@Stan:

I can’t see that being possible, it would mean a re-write and re-flash of OEM software, and the possibility that something may go terminally wrong.
Try just reading your messages later? Laughing “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

if the current system reads text messages from the connected phone which is kinda an app then why not whatsapp..

the google AA software does it so it cant be that difficult..

but yes it seems that reading the whatsapp messages will have to wait until i stop .. ... - .- -.
