First post so here goes.
After 3 years with a 3 ltr 2017 RRS , I decided it was time time to find a low mileage RR V8 tdi .
Finally after 3 months of looking found a 33000 mile 1 owner Autobiography,in my perfect spec with towbar . Now owned for 2 months, must say it’s fabulous and so comfortable.
The interesting thing is I’ve just driven over 1700 miles to Portugal for 6 weeks.
Was doing average around 80 to 85 mph on the motorways, mostly tolls with a transponder .
I filled up with premium diesel in the Uk and averaged 33 mpg car is fully laden with mainly the wife’s stuff 😳
Rest of the journey was just standard diesel through France , Spain and Portugal and averaged 30 mpg .
So I would say premium is definitely worth it !. No oil was used , and adblue usage was very low according to the data in the car .
Just a fantastic long distance cruiser , that eats the mileage

its surprising how good mpg's we get on these big motors....i just came back from a 1750 mile trip to south of france and averaged 38.6...

never thought about going down to portugal...did you drive all the way down or go on a ferry to bilbao/santander? ... - .- -.

That is great MPG indeed! I think also the fact that the EU roads are so much smoother than UK they can also contribute? Not an expert but just a feeling.

When I go from Cheshire to the south coast I get between 38 (averaging 70-75mph) and 40 to 42mph (60-65mph) pretty regularly.

Phenomenal for such a big lump. Those figures even include a couple of good hard accelerations to stretch its legs when warm. Awesome cars. Shame they did away with the v8 although there D300/D350 are very good. First time FFRR owner

I don’t really know what my mpg is but on a long motorway journey it always makes me smile when the dash thing says average 40 mpg Geoff

Drove all the way down through FRANCE Spain, then of course Portugal to Lagos from Cheshire
When I collected the Car from Cornwall, doing a steady 65 to 70 mph , I achieved 40 mph which is remarkable all things considered

they are very good. Close on 2 years and long term average 29.6mpg. 4.4 diesel. X5 40d

My SDV8 averaged 29.0mpg over 3 years / 39k miles, with a high % of those miles on motorways.

That's a calculated mpg, the computer was 6% optimistic so 29.6mpg would be 27.8mpg. Still pretty good for a big heavy car with a V8 diesel, but it used 10% more fuel than my petrol 4.4V8 BMW 750i (31.5mpg over 50k miles) it replaced and was driven more 'enthusiastically'. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

I had a simple rule of thumb during my 6 years owning a 4.4 SDV8. A full tank gave you 500 miles. The computer would often show 37/38 mpg on a motorway run, but around 20 in stop start urban traffic. Just stick to 500 miles per tank!

In one month’s ownership of a P525, I find a tank gets me about 450 miles, so about 20 mpg….

I don’t have the actual numbers but I would guess my wee 2.0 P400e gives me a lifetime average of around 25mpg, 70% London driving, 30% long runs. I often think to myself it’s similar mpg to a P525. But the usability benefits I get from PHEV are well documented across a series of other threads and zero regrets believe it or not. My supercharged days are truly over!

I buy premium petrol, 98 or 99 octane almost always. I do feel the slight difference and being a low mileage driver 4000 a year I am reassured by the additives. If I was diesel I would buy it all the time for sure. Keeping the oily things squeaky clean up front is worth the 10% hike, and for low mileage short-run diesel drivers I’d say it’s essential. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Ok final update got back to the Uk 7 days ago, could say bit of an epic drive!.
I think just about justified because we spent a month in Lagos , Algarve. What a fantastic long distance cruiser the FF RR is, so quiet and comfortable. Drove 700 miles in one day and no aches .
Total mileage 4397 and achieved 29.8 mpg over the whole trip, no oil used , and almost all the Adblue .

According to actual miles vs actual fuel at the pump mine is averaging 29.7 mpg over the last 3.5k miles. Not bad for nearly 13 year old car with 180k miles on it. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
