Service interval query / concerns

This is the alert msg shown for my car on the LR online service history.

Our records show that this vehicle was due a service 37 day(s) ago. Please review your servicing history and contact your preferred Retailer for any action required.
Missing service record for the 96000 miles/72 months service.

Am I wrong and have I misunderstood the whole service scheduling process. I will add that the car is 9 months into a 2 year used approved warranty.

Background:

My 2019 SDV8 service light appeared in August, less than 10k miles since its last service. I contacted my local dealer to request a service booking and they stated it was due a 96k mile/72 months service at circa £1k cost. I queried this as my car has only completed 70k miles and it's only a few months over 5 years old. Anyway, after discussing it with the service admin contact I requested just an oil service and stated that I would rebook next year for the 'big' service at a time more relevant to the 72 months period. I'm assuming the service light as triggered by the oil dilution analysis.

My concern is now that the online service history is flagging an issue about a missing service. The system appears to monitor the time since the last recorded service and flags an issue if the next service is not completed within the 12 months. I understood that the service intervals were always the 'which ever came first' and not every 12 months.

This is the statement on the LR website:

What was the date of your last service, you didn’t mention it above?

It’s quite normal for these vehicles to require servicing before the 12-month period due to “dilution” (as theoretically measured by the car) thereby chomping their way through the Service Schedule at a faster rate than the mileage and time would seem to require, i.e. it’s “due” a 96k/72 month service, because it’s already had all previous services on the Schedule, and that happens to be the next in line.

Not keeping to the Schedule, and having the service as missing in the OSH could land you in hot water if you need to claim on the warranty, and it may already be too late. I would contact LR Customer Service for clarification before much more time lapses, and if necessary get the service done in full. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

My previous service was on 24/08/2023 @ 61,235 miles.

As per my original post, the car has completed less than 10k miles since the last service. I'm aware that the car will monitor the oil condition and request a service when it senses that the oil requires changing, hence why I did request an oil service which was completed.

Having reviewed the 96k/72 month service items I would argue that there's nothing listed, other than engine oil and filter, that would put my car at any risk whatsoever. I plan to have the full service completed at the 72 month point next year. 2019 L405 SDV8 Autobiography

You really should check the terms and conditions of your warranty as you will find that there are typically quite strict rules on servicing, service intervals and windows for missed services. This is probably the first thing that a warranty company will check to see if there is an easy way out of for not paying for a claim. _______________________________________________
