PheV - anone upgraded to 23" wheels?

Has anyone here upgraded their wheels to 23"?

What was the impact on Electric Range and were there any issues at all?

AFAIK the 23" aren't rated strong enough for the extra weight of the PHEVs, hence they could not be configured with them. Only Range Rovers since 1988

That's what I was told by LR too, CS.

The unladen weight of the P550e FFRR is 2810kg, the same as the RRS, the GVW is 3480kg whereas the RRS is slightly lighter at 3450kg.

As you know the RRS can be spec'd with 23" wheels 2024 P550e Autobiography

We have upgraded to 23" Style 1075 Diamond Turned wheels. Works very well!

The reason why the L460 PHEV cannot be ordered with 23" wheels, is that the load rating for the 23" tyre is 111Y compared with the 114Y rating of the 22" tyre. The Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season tyre in 285/40x23 is rated 111Y, meaning max 1090kg/tyre load at 300km/h max speed. The RRS P550e is, however, approved with the exact same 111Y rated tyre, since the RRS has slightly less max load distributed to the rear axel than the L460. 111Y rating is definitely sufficient, unless you have to load the rear part of the boot with iron/lead up to the max allowed curb weight, and then drive flat out at 250 km/h (155mph) in a hot 40 C degrees day for hours after hours... L460 P550e AB SWB MY24

I found a brand new set of 23” genuine RR wheels on ebay (just came off a car) they come with Michelin Primacy Tyres which are 115Y rated so these seem to be able to take the weight!?

I found and was tempted by the same, but if you look on Gumtree you’ll find the same seller offering them for a few £00 less.

I'd be more concerned about your insurer's views on fitting 23" wheels.

Whilst they are LR wheels, as we know they are not available on the FF PHEV models, so they may be classed as a modification.

You often only find out how good your insurer is at the time when you need them.

Keep us updated if you do go ahead with them Thumbs Up 2024 P550e Autobiography

To me it seems 23s with the Michelin Primacy 115Y would be fine. Just need one of the Tyre pros here to confirm and I’ll make the jump as deffo more knowledge on here than my local JLR dealership!

When I was looking for my current P550e in May 24, Beadles had their own demonstrator for sale (think it was in Carpathian) fitted with the 1075 23" wheels.

I've still got a set of these from my first L460 in storage. Look as new with tyres and sensors having covered 4k miles in 2022/3. Need to decide whether to fit them to my P550e or let them go. Rolling Eyes

Pirelli has now got a new Scorpion version with 115Y rating: "Pirelli Scorpion MS HL285/40 R23 115Y XL LR, PNCS". So when JLR can get those tires delivered with new cars, I expect 23" wheels will be an option for new L460 PHEVs (and possibly to the new EV version?) L460 P550e AB SWB MY24
