I've just bought one of these - did you have to do anything to activate it? I chucked it into the SIM slot but it didn't seem to trigger a connection to allow me to log into my LR account.

No, I didn't have to register anything with regards to the SIM. Just popped it in and checked in the menu settings that it had been recognised and that was it. _______________________________________________

This happened to me. I bought a 3 month 3 data sim to see if it would work and it didn’t. I returned it to Argos and tried a 12 month 3 data only sim and hey presto it worked as soon as I inserted it. Not sure if it was a faulty sim or wouldn’t read anything less than 12 months.
Incidentally the satellite overlay was working before I inserted the sim when my phone was plugged in/tethered to activate apple carplay. I hope this helps.

Thanks folks! Turns out it was as simple as enabling mobile data in the settings menu! Works perfectly… will see how far 25Gb of data takes me… probably about 3 years!
