'12 supercharged running rich after HP fuel pumps replaced..

2012 SC L322

Replaced the high pressure pumps after getting the dreaded restricted performance mode and sputtering misfires etc etc. That fixed that issue but now the vehicle is running rich. Getting codes 0172 and 0175 so running rich on both banks.

I did an oil and filter change. I reset the adaption values with GAP Tool. I have taken the air filters out and run it, no change. Then went ahead and replaced the filters anyway. I've cleaned the MAF sensors a couple times. I have replaced the upstream (pre-cat) O2 sensors. im hoping its not the injectors, but is it likely that the injectors would go bad on both banks at the same time after pump replacement? and wouldn't I see misfire codes or other codes?

I have the GAP Tool so I want to do some info logging and hopefully post them here. What items should I monitor and record in the logging? At quick glance, the O2 sensors seem to be reading right (fluctuating up and down), mass air seams to be reacting with throttle and rpms and in the right range.... what else should I be looking at and what would be the correct readings?

How many miles have you put on it since the pumps change out?

May be still settling in to the changes and fuel trims still tuning in

thank you for the response, I've put close to 300 miles on it now after what I've done and checked so far...

I'm hoping I didn't get a crappy set of faulty pumps.... although, that would be my luck. lol.

running rich, all lines seem to be moving except that light blue. could this be a faulty downstream (after-cat) sensor?

Did you time the fuel pumps correctly?

I reckon that's what is wrong here, I remember changing an injection pump on a bmw 325 tdse and that was quite difficult to get spot on....

Iv never heard of timing a fuel pump for a petrol engine before it just pumps fuel to the fuel rail

Drain the oil and check to see if it smells of fuel.

There was a member on here that had a high pressure fuel pump that was leaking internally and allowing fuel directly into the oil which caused the ECU to think it was constantly running rich.

Your downstream O2 sensors are only monitoring the efficiency of your cats and have nothing to do with controlling the mixture.

I would check if there's a timing mark for the fuel pump

I've seen other cars require it. Its actually a sport Sad

Not anymore, 4.4 TDV8 now Very Happy
