Hi Geoff, yes also pretty much what I do, main 12mth Service at the Dealer/Indy, and an Interim OC myself.
Then all I do is watch the soot level a couple of times a week, (especially when its nearing 150m since last regen), then take it for its (roughly) fortnightly “ thrash”

I used to be a bit more OCD about it but getting used to the car and having learned its regime, I now understand what’s happening & when, so feel much more relaxed about it, thanks to the “Regen Gods”

Seriously, this is a great forum and I’ve learned loads in the past 18mths or so from the extremely helpful peeps on here, and it’s much appreciated, even if I sometimes get a bit cheeky for my own good and plonk a Size 9 in it from time to time such is the downfall of having a wicked Gremlin SOH.

Since I started monitoring the regens, I have gotten 16,000+KM between services. If a regen fails I can see a drop of about 1,000km until the next service distance.

Year service at main dealer. If needed an OC at home - it is easy to do, following the instructions in the forum.

I am getting 750km between regens and the soot gram never seems to get very high and the passive regens reduces the soot grams. The best advice is to monitor the regens. SDV8 AB MY 2020

Just back from a nice 2300 round mile trip to Italy which has wiped out my initial remaining mileage of 9000 miles until my next service. I get the interrupted DPF cycle business but really? Utterly farcical. 2017 Vogue SE

I completed a 1200 mile holiday, much of which was towing a caravan, for hours at a constant 60 mph. At the end of it my "distance to next service" had dropped by 3000 miles.

Drives you nuts, doesn't it? I did one 228 mile leg; just under four hours, av speed 62mph, 31.4 mpg, all autostrada miles apart from the last ten or so and it 'cost' me a thousand miles.

We all know the service intervals are arbitrary but this really me off. Apart from that, the car was great! Seriously, just belting on long European journeys. 2017 Vogue SE

Cheers, great trip as always. Two stops on the way down, one in Alsace and one in Piacenza before our final stop in Umbria. One stop on the way back, same place in Alsace again. Return journey started at 0110 on Fri morning and got back last night at 2130. Bit of a slog but actually entirely doable with two driving.

I lived in Le Marche for 15 years returning here in 2021. I,m trying now to go back again!

'68 plate SDV8. I bought in April with 38k miles. Freshly serviced the week before the car went to Spain in August

After 2 weeks (1598 miles exactly), travelling at mostly 130-140kmh on toll roads, the range to service has dropped from 14961 miles to 12011. Ironically the adblue range only dropped from 5219 to 3914.

I would expect the adblue range to suggest these were perfect types of journey for the car, but the service interval drops at a rate of almost 2:1 surprised me. Surely this can't be as a result of 'type of journey'.

Or is 140kmh too fast?!

Alternatively, the car previously appears to have had a very gentle life doing short running. Could there be some build up which needs cleaning out? Do additives help? 2019 MY SDV8 Autobiography in Velocity Blue

Since my last service just over a month ago and 1,500 motorway miles I now have just 10,500 miles to next service. I am finding motorway miles reduce the distance to next service faster than local driving which really surprised me as I thought motorway miles would be the perfect conditions and certainly no failed regens as it’s not short, stop start journeys. Clearly the algorithm sees long high speed journeys as cause to call for an early service.

I have been monitoring my TDV6 since March 2022, soot levels/MTS/Miles driven.
Mostly short Mon-Fri commute 16 mile round trip in town, plus the odd 50-100 mile Weekend trip.
My consistent actual miles vs MTS ratio is 3.85:1, so 16000/3.85 = 4155 miles between services.
Er, happily (did I say that?) annual milage of 4K-5K means I “get away” with an OC every 2-2500 miles.
The joke is, the “advantage” gained in fuel economy of the stupidly watery 5W-30 oil is overtaken by the cost of changing the oil (and filter) TWICE per year at very short mileage intervals, and the environmental impact of disposal of same, not to mention the increased wear & tear on the engine.
(And why, changing the oil so frequently, do I need to use long-life synthetic oil?
We are being taken for mugs, and hung out to dry, in believing all the JLR bullshit.

After a service I get 24,000km on the clock. My car is due/asking for it next service. I got 17,500km. The last drop was 2000km after a 50ish km motorway drive when a regen happened.
I am happy with that. So this will be again its annual service. SDV8 AB MY 2020
