M62 engine mounts replacement

Hi,

I've read the workshop manual / service procedures and unless there's a solid reason, I don't fancy messing with the steering column or the rack. I understand LR are instructing to move them away for better access. As far as I can see, neither sits on the way of the engine being lifted or the mounts being replaced. So is it a matter of accessing the securing bolts? Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks

On the M57 I did both sides on ramps in 1,5 hours. It can be done without unscrewing the brackets from the engine. In the manual this was described as it is a must.

Just be sure to have three extenders and two swivels for your wrench to get the bolts from the right side out (from the top). After unscrewing all bolts you can lift the engine with a Jack from the underside and get both mounts out with a bit of wiggling.
I would do it with two persons to make sure to place the mounts right when lowering the engine again.

Thanks above Thumbs Up ! I was thinking along the same lines. Getting to the bolts / nuts from the top with extensions and swivels would eliminate the need for taking half the car apart. Will try it at my friend's garage on a ramp which also has a traveling jack.
I'm thinking of using some flat piece of wood and sheet metal to spread the load across the sump pan. Hope it can take it, otherwise I'm open to other recommendations
