Dealers...Nothing changes

I’m angry with myself. Other half’s car has had to be replaced. We went to Halliwell Jones in Warrington and did the deal a couple of days ago. Paid in full on viewing vehicle.. I said we’d like to pick it up on Monday as we have a busy Saturday (31st). You can’t we were told . It’s the end of the month and it has to be off site before 1st September . Even though it’s paid for I asked.
Really, you could'nt store it for a couple of extra days?

As we where buying it outright, no part ex, no finance I asked about any movement in the out the door price. No, it's not our policy to offer any discount.
So collected today with fumes in the tank and I'm left feeling that having spent 50 grand, its as if I've just been to the corner shop for a loaf , such was the lack of gratitude for choosing to enrich their business

Wishing I’d told them to stick it up their but last Wednesday.

If you pick it up next week, what are they going to do? Nothing!

I have to say I think you could have held out for a better deal, possibly with another franchise.

I would suggest it’s a buyers market but the lack of finance sometimes works against you as it removes their commissions on the deal etc. once upon a time cash buyers would be welcomed but think the dial has moved a bit.

The lack of fuel is frankly a Censored take given what you have spent.

I remember years ago, a ruthless salesman in my company told me about him buying a new car. Being a cunning fellow salesman, he knew all the tactics, so when he went to buy, he told the salesman he wanted to put it on finance. So discounts sorted, he played this right the way along until he was due to sign the docs and then told the salesman’s he wanted to pay it in cash (well card but with no finance).
Naturally there was much gnashing of teeth, so he just said, fine, I’ll go elsewhere. In those days, maybe things were different but as he went to stand up and leave, they agreed to sell the car at the same price, despite not getting their cut from the finance company.

Sometimes you need to play these guys at their own (dirty) game. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

You can buy a car on finance to get the incentives / discount and pay it off within 14 days to avoid paying any interest. I did that to get a £2,500 finance contribution on my wife’s Golf R. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid
