TD6 Fuel Pressure Sensor fault / help | |
Evening Chaps.....
...got a bit of a head scratcher...
My pals TD6 fuel pressure sensor broke and started to leak about 8 months ago, so it was replaced and normal service was resumed
Last week it failed again, D'OH!
So it was replaced again and the fuel filter was changed too.... that set up lasted 3 days before leaking
Both sensors showed signs of fuel ingress into the part that the wires plug into... makes me think that they have failed internally, OR, the low pressure pumps are getting a little carried away and overdoing it a wee bit on the pressure front
Which when you think about all the posts that start with my car wont start and the low pressure pumps aren't pumping enough, makes it a real mistry.
Is there a pressure regulator / bleed off in the fuel line between the pumps and the filter? that might have failed? Or does the fuel pressure sensor actually do what it's title suggests and supposedly turn off the low pressure pumps if it all gets a bit too much?
Love to know if any body peeps has suffered the same, and how it was rectified....
We had a phone call with Dan the very nice parts man @ Duckworths today, which has resulted in a gen LR sensor and fuel filter being posted, after my pal remembered the combination to his wallet, it was a frightening final total.... I'd hate to bung them on the car and it blow it's top again, that would be a moment! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
