I have the oil.

As it says in the title I have a decent stock of oil but no filters. I was thinking of doing an oil change this weekend, one of two I do between services. Obviously the oil filter gets changed at every service but these are in between oil changes (to alleviate my concerns about dilution) do I need to keep changing the filter as it gets changed every 10000 miles anyway. I can easily order one or maybe a few for stock but I guess my question is should I always change the filter when I change the oil every few thousand miles. Geoff

For the cost of a new filter c£10 I like the peace of mind running new oil through a new filter. It only adds 15 minutes max to the job , so new filter every time for me.

Hi

I don’t think that I have not ever changed the filter when I have changed the oil? For the cost of a filter I would change it. Oil and filters are cheap compared to the cost of a replacement engine..

Filters didn't arrive so I just changed the oil. Will have them next time. Geoff

The primary reason to change the oil is to reduce the soot load and any fuel dilution neither of which are anything to do with the age of the filter so no benefit to putting in a new one. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Thanks, yep I wasn’t to worried, filters filter and last the mileage, oil dilutes with diesel so I just change it as a precaution. All those short trips to the supermarket that SWMBO insists on, I think I’ll put the money saved on the filter towards a chaffeurs cap Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Geoff
