Adblue Refill

Anyone found a foolproof way of topping up their adblue without getting it everywhere?

Everytime I do it I end up with it all over the car, over my wellies and its then a pain to keep washing it off.

It all goes fine to start with and then it just bubbles back up the inlet and goes everywhere!

No "user error" comments please, get enough of that off SWMBO Laughing

Fool proof way is to obtain a 1.8l top up container from a dealer, cut the top so it can be unscrewed, then transfer your adblu to this container 1.8l at a time, it only takes a couple of minutes longer and no spills or mess.

I only buy ad blu with a spout & I sometimes use a funnel which allows air to escape . Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

Fed up of the gurgling, coughing and spitting back of the nasty stuff, I bought one of these. Laser also do one, slightly cheaper on Amazon. Works well for me:

Funnel works fine. Just pour slowly

I’ve never found a way of not spilling some. However carefully I’ve poured, it seems to like gurgling back again as I suspect air is released.

This is not a job I do without a hosepipe nearby! 2016 SDV8 AB

I get the Costco one, it has a built-in funnel thing, and goes in quite painlessly. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black

Thanks for the replies all.

I usually do use one of those containers with the refill spout but it just loves to bubble back up and go everywhere, probably because it isn't sealed to the inlet.

Might give Monty's solution a go. Guess the dealer supplied refills are designed to seal around the spout to avoid any mess
