4.4sdi ticking…

Hi all,

I’ve just noticed my 2015 4.4 diesel is making a ticking noise…? Is this normal?

Also, I tried to check the oil level.., but there doesn’t appear to be a dip stick…?!?

You need to access the oil level through the service menu on the instrument cluster. This can only be done after the car has been stood for a time, quite a long time.

As for ticking that may well be injector solenoids clicking which is quite normal. Try adding some injector cleaning additive to the fuel and seeing if that has any effect on the noise level.

All diesels tick to some extent - you should hear some of ours with Cummins engines or the Ford / New Holland Powerstar 7.5L 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17
