Courtesy light gremlin !

Was messing about with the fuses trying to work out why my HDC button wasn't working and noticed the following, my dome and puddle lights work fine but i have no vanity mirror or map lights working in the front so checked bulbs which seem fine. Pulled the fuse for the interior lights and the dome and puddle lights still work !

I'm sure the fault with my rear heated seats and HDC button not working stem from an electrical issue and think all this may be linked to some common denominator. In the past when the battery ran down the voltage after leaving the interior lights switched on the the front map lights and rear heated seats seem to work for a few days and then went off again when I recharged the battery ! anyone got any ideas ?

Hi, I’m afraid I never resolved this problem. I’m sure it’s an earth fault as all of sudden a couple of times a year the heated seats and map lights will work at the same time but both go off again at the same time. This suggests power does go to the lights and rear seat heaters so not a fuse issue, the HDC button has never ever worked in the car, it does work through one of the terrain response modes and the the HDC does light up on the 4x4 screen (yellow) but goes out when the ignition is switched on.

Sorry to hear that.

I have a similar problem on a 2018 Discovery. I have a warranty and JLR will fault trace it, but it feels like it should be something easy e.g. a ground issue as you say somewhere or water intrusion. All fuses are fine.

When I open doors interior lights work.
But:
- Makeup mirror lights dont work.
- Light in upper glove box don't work.
- You can't turn on the map reader lights in front/mid/rear seats.

On top of this the keyless unlock appears to have some antennas not functional.
- Trunk works fine.
- you can lock using the dent in all four door handles.
But:
- you can not unlock using the handle with the key close to any of the doors, only if I press it against the rear side window on the side you want to unlock.

Could be similar problem inhereted in the JLR family.

Sounds like an earth issue or perhaps a body control module problem, others may be able to answer better if they have had similar issues relating to the door issue. My glovebox light doesn’t work either but I’ve never had issues with the doors not opening as you have. Someone once told me that the fuse that powers the rear heat seaters goes via the gear selector light panel ie whatever mode is selected ie park then the P should light red on the panel and then orange when you select drive etc, I did hear that there can be a problem with the wiring loom that is in the drivers side footwell but have never checked this out. Be interesting what JLR say if you take it in for a diagnostic check and would appreciate if you posted there conclusions.
