United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Corris Grey

That’s a fantastic video post update Gary and as you’ve found by the looks of it, once you get used to the flicking between the original and new systems it all starts to make more sense.

I fully agree with you that it’s a cracking piece of kit. I was in 2 minds with the air con unit, but I’ve set that to a black background so it isn’t quite as distracting as you’ve mentioned but I can wholly agree it can be distracting.

As it’s android I’ve found it a tad different as I’m an apple user so there are some points I wasn’t aware of

Can you do a screen shot of the gps signals you receive please. I’d like to compare it with my splitter satellite signal strengths - see below:

The first picture is the splitter cable result

The second picture was with the original gps transmitter - on the roof!

Good to see you agree with me in that it looks great and freshens up the infotainment systems in the L405…..

Continue to enjoy and thanks for your original thread pictures as they helped me no end. Cheers!!

Best regards

Hello after some help please
Fitted the 13.3 screen I don't use the android side of things just carplay the problem I'm having is gps sat nav is useless no matter what I use Waze google or apple maps there all way off.
I have read the posts about using a splitter cable so could someone show me what one I need to buy and if possible were and how to connect?
Just to add I thought carplay uses your phone gps signal and not the one that comes with the unit which I have fitted anyway.

Superb videos Gary, i was leaning towards the Pivi screen for my 2013 RR Autobiography but now i think i'll go with this 13.3" system.
A question about the cheap speaker supplied and your work around, is it possible to purchase a better quality speaker from a car stereo place in leiu? 2013 L405 Autobiography 5.0 Supercharged Fuji White

Morning all,

Whilst having a browse I spotted this..

Does this look like a newer unit yours (both).? I can see more 'soft' buttins on the left for seat settings.

The third shot shows Android13 so I guess a later OS version - Do you know if the Android 11 units can be upgraded?

Its about £650 but unsure if there would be any import taxes etc to pay when landed in the UK Ash

Thanks to Gary and NambFFRR I took the plunge with the new screen.

Your great advice gave me the confidence to jump in and do it... and I have to say.... I love the result.

(excuse the state of the rubber maps, and my garage Shocked )

I've set up a few automation actions so when the system boots up, it loads Google Maps and Absolute radio - but still playing with all that.

The boot time is, as you've described, 15 seconds or so for the main screen although i'm usually parked in the garage so straight into reverse and the rear camera is displayed without waiting for the Android to wake up

I do find it hit n miss for the system to connect to my iPhone hotspot - how have others found it.? I have a 50gb data allowance on the phone so though it might be cheaper to just hotspot but I might move to a sim on the unit itself - i'll give it a month to see how much data i'm actually using first.

Its also similar with Apple CarPlay connecting as well - but its not the end of the world.

Out of interest, does anyone know how to change the boot logo - was planning on changing it from Androis to the 'Green Oval' if I can. I have the FactoryCode to get into the root menus, just need to work out where to upload a new png and select it.... any advice would be great.

As you can see, I also went for the AC screen - I like it a lot actually and I leave it on night mode so its always dark - that was its not distracting while driving.

So far however - very pleased - I also got a lot of setup help from the seller in China which helped.

Cheers Ash

Hey DrF,

Actually it was easier than I thought - the whole swapping out of old stereo innards and transplanting them in the new system was straight forward.

I'd say the 2 difficult parts were the refitting of the new into the dash as the new inline loom is bulky and space is limited - but with a little bit of fiddling it can be done.

I aslo messed around looking for a square white plug to plug back into the system... I looked high and low and couldn't find it anywhere - then had a google only to find out that some systems don't have this plug anyway...!! (maybe its for unit with rear screen or something).

Some fiddling with trim panels to get the 4g and gps arials placed but nothing too difficult.

The set up instructions are a little lacking but my seller was very responsive and helped immensly.
