Remove Wiper Washer Mechanism from Headlight Assembly

2004 car - as many people know the small headlight wiper motor / wiper relay goes bad and impacts the battery, and after a week or so the battery dies, I can't remember the amps it draws when it does this, but I would like to completely remove it, as well as having fuse 28 removed.

I think the problem is with the internal gearing, the motor still tries to park the wiper even when the ignition is turned off and the car is locked up.

At the moment the wiper is not working as intended and may well be spotted by a well trained MOT examiner, so has anyone done this, and could kindly give me any advice, tips before I start removing all the parts so it looks like it never existed.

There is a grey rectangular piece of plastic which holds the wiper arm, and getting to it and removing the arms looks to be a devil a job, so I think probably best left for now

The cover / cap can be lifted from its oval end (1). It hinges against the arm (dashed line) by about 30 degrees on its two lateral tabs before it can be pulled out (2). This will reveal the securing nut. Undo the nut and wiggle the arm off the shaft.

Copied from the world wide web: All vehicles registered since 1 April 2000 that have a dipped beam with a luminous intensity of more than 2,000 lumens must have a headlamp cleaning system.

Later models have a water jet instead of these wipers and i was also looking at removing mine due to the faulty relay but have had to leave them on for now even though they don't currently work (and it's just passed an MOT Very Happy )

Incidentally - when my failed the washer also ran continually so the fluid ran out as well as the battery drain Rolling Eyes
