I will be amazed if anyone can answer this one. Been having issues with my aircon. 322 4.4 TDI.V8 2011 Fully gassed. No leaks. Compressor kicking in etc. (had many specialists look at it ) Occasionally won't work unless i kick it down on the motorway. Sometimes this doesnt help so will play with switches, turning up heat then back down, manual instead of auto etc and occasionally this works. Then doesnt. When I can get it to work, if i slow down ie traffic or drive slow on back streets it warms up so no air con.
However. Yesterday I accidentally pressed the flappy paddles so put it in manual. I decided to play with this and low and behold, the aircon started working. Real cold. Stopped and sat in the car for 5 minutes, still continued to work!! Have tried it 2 more times and works every time. If i leave it in manual mode it reacts as first paragraph above.

Compressor valve. Well known fault. lots on here about it. Do a search.

Your actions can trick it into moving/opening but ultimately it's a new valve required. However much better to change the compressor at the same time as it all needs come out anyhow.
