Thanks guys, vehicle is in at repair center, just waiting on assessor to go check if he agrees with the repairer’s estimate then it is a matter of waiting on parts - living in sunny South Africa does from time to time mean that parts availability is not always immediate.

But we are holding thumbs that LRSA does have all the parts available - repairer is one of the 2 LRSA approved repairers in Pretoria

It is about 14 months since we got the RRSVAB which had 12341kms when we got it in November 2023 - fast forward to today and it is now at 41361kms. This was mostly long distance trips between Pretoria and Cape Town, Cape Town and George, and 2 trips between Pretoria and George with a quick excursion from George to St Helena Bay and back before returning to Pretoria.

Lots have happened since including an accident when a guy in a Ford Figo drove into the RR resulting in about R600k’s damage to the RR, vehicle had a service, replaced tyres (RR came with run flats which resulted in much harsher ride than it supposed to have) and then lost 2 of the new tyres on a gravel road in the Graaff-Reinet area.

Negatives / regrets to date in owning the RR - ABSOLUTELY NONE

Positives - MANY. The effortless and comfortable way in which the loosened up engine (now with about 455kW and 740Nm) eats up the miles is just astonishing. Adding to this is Jekyll and Hyde nature of the car - one moment luxury cruiser next moment low flying jet - this whilst the car massages you and, depending on the season, either cools or warms your backside and back.

Just over 3 months since my last post.. and we are still enjoying the Blue Express. Still amazed at the comfort of this vehicle.

We did about 8000 kilometres since the last update in January; most of which was done on a recent trip to George and back a few weeks ago.

It feels as if the engine is only loosening up now and is performing better both power and fuel economy wise. Although I refuse to monitor fuel consumption, I found it was rather frugal - if one can ever call a SC V8 petrol frugal - on the trip down between Pretoria and Bloemfontein as we got tank-to-tank (both filled to first click) 8.45km/l whilst still driving at quite a brisk pace.

Nice to hear you are still enjoying it. I have the older L322 (2012) and I'm still in love with it after 2 years of ownership.  Cam

We also have a 2007 L322 4.2 SC which we still love and enjoy. The L322 has the softer almost wafting experience compared to the L405; albeit that the L405's bigger wheels and sportier suspension detracts to some extent from the wafting experience.

Had a service done last week at LR Menlyn - very efficient work and communication better than some other dealers.

Added another +-1500kms to the odometer as we did another trip from Pretoria to Cape Town yesterday. Again I can only repeat what I previously said:

I discovered 2 more things of the car - air vents in the A-pillar that I only noticed on this trip from Pta to CT and the fact that one can use your feet to open and close the boot.

Back in Gauteng after spending about 2 weeks in the George area.

RR again performed as in the past (comfort, power and speed when needed, etc.) on this just over 1200km trip - positives as previously reported the same.

Just over 54000kms which means we added 42000kms since we bought it 18 months ago with absolutely no hassles other than 2 services (we have it serviced more frequently than per LR schedule).

Added another almost 6000kms (3750 miles) since the last update, which includes a trip to George and back with stopover for a few days in Bloemfontein to attend a network conference there.

This trip again just emphasized the comfort and luxury of this vehicle with heated steering wheel and heated and massage seats proving its worth on this trip - especially the few days that we were in Bloemfontein. The only thing missing is the pre-heating that is available in the European “tractor” versions of the Range Rover.

The ease with which this vehicle dispenses of the distances travelled especially overtaking capability where trucks were driving close to each other whilst still being so quiet and comfortable ensures that one arrives rather fresh at one’s destination. The only thing is the slightly more noise from the Michelin tyres if one compares it to the Pirelli Noise Cancelling tyres (the Pirellis have sponge in it to reduce the road noise), but other than that, the Michelins give a slightly better feel through the steering wheel than the Pirellis.

Am I still impressed with the car - it is a resounding yes.
