Parking Sensors

I've got an old L405 (2013) the parking sensors never went off when I ran into a fence and had to have the bumper resprayed. But now on starting the car I get a very loud noise to let me know the parking sensors aren't working - oh the irony Rolling with laughter . Is it possible to switch them off with the IDT00L or will I have to fix them. I only want to silence the beep as the things never worked in the past Whistle Geoff

It would seem that this is not possible, so I'll have to fix it properly. Is there a way either using the IDT00L or some form of manual testing to identify which sensor is faulty. Geoff

I believe each sensoe emits a sound when activated so switch to reverse and taking all safety precautions, listen to each one... ... - .- -.

Mine has had various sensors fail due to corrosion, leading to the 'false positive' noise you are getting. One could generally see which sensors were defective in that case as the top surface was delaminating/bubbling. The second time it happened was only about a year after they were last replaced and I got a goodwill contribution from LR to the repair cost (quite right too, I think LR must have used poorer quality sensors in the 405 than in the 322 as in similar use I didn't have the same problem there). So dealers must be able to tell which are defective, and I assume that would be through use of diagnostic equipment.

I'm not sure about the Stan approach as mine sounded as soon as one was in reverse, I thought the gap between the inner and outer surfaces of the delaminated sensor triggered the sound, so it would not be triggered only on some other object being nearby. Only Range Rovers since 1988

No noise from any of them. I suspect as the car has detected a fault it just switches them all off. Oddly one of the rear ones did work recently when I tried to run into a BMW I was aiming at Rolling with laughter Geoff
