HELP! MOT failure Front subframe.

So a less than ideal day - failed MOT due to a hole in the front sub frame just behind the ARB, sourcing a replacement is no problem what I’m after is a “how to” to replace it. It doesn’t look like an engine out job but does looking like the engine will need supported with a hoist or similar. Basically looking to see if anyone has attempted this job. My L322 is a 2011 4.4TDV8. Many thanks in advance.

If you're going that far you might as well do the front wheel bearings, ball joints and control arm bushes whilst you're in there if you're planning on keeping the car. Thumbs Up

Make sure you buy a subframe from the same age of car as there does seem to be some differences with earlier cars having different part numbers. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

Thank you for the info, also I have just changed the ball joints and control arms but I will do the bearings and C.V boots while I’m at it, also need to rebuild the front calipers as a few of the pistons are sticking just hope I can get the bleed nipples out before they snap. Norway 2012 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Orkney Grey


I have done it. Yes the engine must be supported and driveshaft etc must be removed. Much work but not very difficult. For me the hardest was to remove the driveshaft from the hub. I ended up to remove the hub togheter with the driveshaft...

I made my own tool to support the engine during removal. Also the engine mount bolts could be little tricky and is often rusted.
